Mrs. Clemts Bio

Mrs. Kay Clemts has been with the Perry County School District since school year 2014-2015. Mrs. Clemts currently teaches with a passion the U S History Course at Perry Central High School. Mrs. Clemts received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Southern Mississippi, College of Education and Psychology with Honors, in December 2010.   

 

Mrs. Clemts was awarded the New Teacher of the Year for the school year 2014-15 and the Teacher of the Year for school years 2018-19 and 2021-22. Mrs. Clemts is a sponsor of both the Excel and History Clubs at the high school. She serves in a leadership position on the Excellence Task Force which promotes EXCELLENCE in our school among our students, staff, faculty, and administrators as well as our community. Mrs. Clemts is participating in conjunction with our Principal, Mr. Yeager and her Social Studies Department team members on a project through the University of Southern Mississippi entitled Bridging the Divide. This project has been created for the purpose of promoting a constructive dialogue across political and ideological divides for the betterment of our communities.

 

Mrs. Clemts' educational philosophy includes teaching the whole child. While focusing on the curriculum of the course she also includes life skills that assist our students in their successful journey post-secondary education. Her goal is to make a difference in the lives of her students. Integrating fun in Mrs. Clemts classroom is an everyday occurrence. Her belief as a teacher is that learning SHOULD BE FUN! 

 

When Mrs. Clemts is not at school she enjoys spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren. She also enjoys her time with her horses and other farm animals. 

 

Mrs. Kay Clemts is excited to welcome each and every student into her classroom this school year and encourages parents of each child she teaches to reach out to her anytime concerning their child's academic success.
